Research Interests:

My dissertation research focuses on the dynamics of the Salvinia weevil, Cyrtobagous salviniae, both in relation to its host plant Common Salvinia (Salvinia minima) and to a suspected predator, the Red Imported Fire Ant (Solenopsis invicta).  I am looking at the introduction and establishment of the C. salviniae into Louisiana to help control the rapid spread of S. minima, and the spatial dynamics of predator/prey relationships on the mat.

I also have a strong interest in macro photography and documenting/recording insects for educational purposes. Some of my photos are available through UGA’s Bugwood Network and the Invasive Exotic Species Network. You can see them here.
